Wrong Lunch
The day had gone pretty well. The math classes were well-behaved. I got the same question over and over. This happens sometimes. I make a note of it so the teacher knows.
Third period ended. I stood at the door waiting for fourth period to arrive. And waited. And waited.
Wait a minute!
For some reason, I thought I had B lunch. Turned out I had A lunch. Which meant that while I was waiting at the door, I was missing the first few minutes of my lunch.
Ugh!
Usually which lunch I have is obvious, but on this day... Ah well...
(I only get a half hour for lunch, but I ended up with enough time. And since it was an easy day, it wasn't like I was needing a full half hour of quiet anyway.)

Eep! Glad you got to eat. No one messes with lunch. :)
ReplyDeleteI know!
DeleteEven we adults can get mixed up!!! Glad you got to eat!
ReplyDeleteI would have scarfed something down eventually.
DeleteCan't miss lunch! Glad you were able to get most of it.
ReplyDeleteI don't generally need the whole thing, really.
DeleteI can inhale my lunch in five minutes if necessary.
ReplyDeleteI think sometimes life is like that. We're waiting for something to happen when we should be making something else happen. =)
ReplyDeleteGood thing you didn't miss lunch! Glad you figured it out fast.
ReplyDeleteThat would be hard to remember A/B lunch, but glad you got a lunch regardless :)
ReplyDeletebetty
It's not generally hard. There's a detail that I've left out so as to not identify the school district, but that detail makes it pretty easy to know which lunch I get. But this day, I didn't realize that my 4th period was that type of class.
DeleteOh been there-I thought it was earlier and worked past my lunch. Thankfully I had no clients so i could eat
ReplyDeleteIt's shocking how quickly that half hour goes. It takes me 5 minutes to get to the staffroom and then there's a big queue to get to the urn for a coffee so really it only ends up being 15 minutes. Teachers do it tough!
ReplyDeleteAnd that's not even counting the time to hit the restroom.
DeleteI reckon in 30 years I might have manages lunch maybe a dozen times. Drama teachers always have stuff to do while they are ' not working '
DeleteLunch is just too short, really.
DeleteGlad you figured it out in time!
ReplyDeleteMe too.
DeleteGlad you figured it out in time not to miss lunch.
ReplyDeleteMe too.
DeleteOops! I thought this was going to be a student lunch saga, but today you told on the teacher! Glad you figured it out and got to eat.
ReplyDeleteOccasionally I tell about the stupid things I do. Not always, but occasionally.
DeleteI think of the staff room and 30 min. we had for lunch. It was a race against time, some days.
ReplyDeleteYeah, it can be.
