Pretty much the first thing in the morning, the class exercises. One day is yoga. Another is weights. And a third day they can choose to dance. (Walking is the other option on these days.)
So, it was dancing day, and half the class chose to go walking instead. The IAs both preferred walking, so I got to stay with the students who wanted to dance.
Oh, they were excited. They logged into YouTube and had the speakers and projector on before I had a chance to blink.
I let them each pick a song. (Well, I picked a couple, too.) I had to. Pizza was just so excited about this one song that he had to share with me and the class.
I was dubious. Pizza has some interesting taste. It turns out I needn't have worried. Well, I didn't need to worry the song was school-appropriate.
I did need to worry about one thing, though. I really couldn't laugh at Pizza's song. Luckily, masks hide all sorts of facial expressions at the right times.
The song:
The other students' choices were ordinary by comparison.
Interesting choice
ReplyDeleteIt is.
DeleteRather fascinating! There's a lot wander off and research there. The band (Italian "folk metal") and the song. I do like the video and costumes! It's like today's version of "Working in a Coal Mine"! I can imagine your worry when the kids picked.
ReplyDeleteIt's a whole fantasy-medieval-gaming vibe in metal.
DeleteWhat a great ritual to have with the Ss. I probably could have benefited from a bit of yoga before the start of school when I was a youth.
ReplyDeleteNow I just have to figure out how to lead the yoga when I've never done yoga. (Well, doing yoga in kindergarten--as a student--probably doesn't count.)
DeleteUgh, dancing. I'd definitely be walking. At least they give another option, unlike my school where I had to lose credit for a day.
ReplyDeleteGood times were had by all!
ReplyDeleteVery true.
DeleteWell, that was educational - to me. First, I thought "are they serious?" but you know what, this sung quickly grew on me (and the weirdness of the video, too)so I had to look up its origin. P.S. I'd rather walk, too.
ReplyDeleteIt's definitely different.
DeleteLooks like they all enjoyed and had good time.
ReplyDeleteHaha, I love it! I'm gonig to have to look into the band and song etc, but having just listened to it, it's very catchy and definitely has a beat you can dance to :)
ReplyDeleteThat's pretty cool. :)
ReplyDeleteIn a fantasy-reader way, yup, definitely.
DeleteI was really enjoying this until they started singing but it is still very original and I applaud him for picking this.
