Premature Obituary

At the heart of much speculative fiction (and fiction in general) is a question. What if? On Tuesdays I like to throw one out there and see what you make of it. Do with it as you please. If a for-instance is not specified, feel free to interpret that instance as you wish. And if you find this becomes a novel-length answer, I'd appreciate a thank you in the acknowledgements.
😉

What if the friend who you thought died returns and is now out to get you?

  1. I would scream Zombie and run like hell! :D

  2. Hate to echo Martha, but I'm a sort-of zombie literature fan, so I immediately thought "Zombie!" I would either run, or grab my zombie killing sword. Because everyone has to own one of those swords.

    1. Zombie did not even occur to me. Well, it turned out this question was more SFF than I expected.

  3. I try to treat people like I want to be treated, so the odds are cut down they would want to harm me.

  4. Sorry I left you behind on the glacier, you looked like a goner. By the way, I'm dating your girl now. And I didn't think you would be needing your earpods. Hey, what's with the knife?

  5. That is very awkward question. I don't know what to say.

  6. I’d feel like I am in a Dynasty episode or in General Hospital Show. I would just be confronting her/him and asking WTF??

  7. Well, my first question would be, what the heck did I do to you to be after me. Then I would try to understand what they told me, prob as I was running away.

    1. I didn't specify that they'd be after you for a good reason...

  8. It would have to be after I get this book published. Because he helped me with the original play that inspired this book, and may want credit. I tried to reach out to him, multiple times, at various phases in the book's writing, and got no response. Then I found out he'd died. Oy vey.

    1. Well, once you explain, he'll understand, especially after you give him that credit you'd intended to give him all along.

    2. Hey if that's my only haunting, I'm good!

I appreciate your comments.

I respond to comments* via email, unless your profile email is not enabled. Then, I'll reply in the comment thread. Eventually. Probably.

*Exception: I do not respond to "what if?" comments, but I do read them all. Those questions are open to your interpretation, and I don't wish to limit your imagination by what I thought the question was supposed to be.
