A Different Origin Theory

At the heart of much speculative fiction (and fiction in general) is a question. What if? On Tuesdays I like to throw one out there and see what you make of it. Do with it as you please. If a for-instance is not specified, feel free to interpret that instance as you wish. And if you find this becomes a novel-length answer, I'd appreciate a thank you in the acknowledgements.
😉

I found this on Twitter on Sunday, and I thought, "why not?" It's way better than any question I can come up with today...

  1. I don't think we had the technology for escape pods back then lol!

  2. That's an interesting scenario. That would make all Earthlings aliens!

    1. Well, there is the theory that all life originated via a meteorite that had a certain cell on it. That would make us alien, too.

  3. Interesting! I've actually read a book by a fellow author who proposed we were on Mars first.

  4. That was, like, sixty five million years ago, though. There wasn't even anything human-like on earth.

  5. As much as this plot would make a great SF novel, I think we are too close to various other mammals (primates, especially) in our DNA to be descended from aliens. But, again, it would make a great novel!

    1. I have at least five issues with that tweet. But you're right, it might make a good novel.

  6. If Mars used to be our home, that does not bode well for the future of the Earth

  7. Best not to speculate about that, it sounds to possible. Wouldn't that just the way?

    1. Eh, I don't know. I have several issues with it as presented. But it's fun to consider.

  8. It might be hard to pull off with accuracy, plus, a single man and woman wouldn't be able to populate the earth.

  9. I guess history would be in making.

  11. I love things like this that make you think, even though I don't believe this, it's interesting to muse about different ideas isn't it!

Hope that your week is going well :)

  12. If Mars was our home then we might be able to live there again.

  13. Well, you never know. It could be the case...I doubt it but it could be.

    1. Only if that's a very, very simplified version of it. Otherwise, there are some inconsistencies with the geologic record.

  14. Someone does some really DEEP thinking. Well, if that was what happened to Mars I would understand us destroying the world but wondering how we would have done it. As for our pod being what wiped out the dinosaurs that would be understandable also, people starting out with a bang and starting to destroy the earth before we move in.

I appreciate your comments.

I respond to comments* via email, unless your profile email is not enabled. Then, I'll reply in the comment thread. Eventually. Probably.

*Exception: I do not respond to "what if?" comments, but I do read them all. Those questions are open to your interpretation, and I don't wish to limit your imagination by what I thought the question was supposed to be.
