Under the Sea
At the heart of much speculative fiction (and fiction in general) is a question. What if? On Tuesdays I like to throw one out there and see what you make of it. Do with it as you please. If a for-instance is not specified, feel free to interpret that instance as you wish. And if you find this becomes a novel-length answer, I'd appreciate a thank you in the acknowledgements ;)
What if we had dwellings (communities, cities) in the depths of the ocean? Would you want to live there?
Today's A to Z Challenge post brought to you by the letter...

I appreciate your comments.
I respond to comments* via email, unless your profile email is not enabled. Then, I'll reply in the comment thread. Eventually. Probably.
*Exception: I do not respond to "what if?" comments, but I do read them all. Those questions are open to your interpretation, and I don't wish to limit your imagination by what I thought the question was supposed to be.

I think I might enjoy living there, at least for a bit. Wonder if one would feel claustrophobic?

Hi Liz - I think the answer would be no ... if I could live in a rock pool as one of the wonderful creatures in it - troubled by no one ... I'd be very happy ... cheers Hilary

I often wondered how Disney's Little Mermaid stays there. Will be nice to give her company :)

It might be.
DeleteNot sure about live there but I'd check it out for sure :D
ReplyDeleteA visitor, eh?
DeleteI'd go for a visit but I wouldn't want to live there. We all need the sun...vitamin D and all that:) I might meet Aquaman there...hmmmmm
ReplyDeleteI hadn't thought of vitamin D...
DeleteAs long as I can be a mermaid with a glittery blue tail. And have a huge whale as a sidekick.
ReplyDeleteSure, why not?
DeleteI'm trying to imagine how to make places for people to live under the water. It would be quite a feat of engineering. And if something were to break...
ReplyDeleteIt might get a bit claustrophobic but it's interesting to have a story in a place where people can't easily leave. I'd like to think the scenery was nice but if it was really the darkest depths, it might be a bit murky!
ReplyDeleteI would miss forests, mountains, and being able to travel. No, I would feel imprisoned. Alana ramblinwitham.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteIf you live there, I'm sure you could leave to go on vacation or something...
DeleteI wouldn't. I would be nervous to even visit. Too claustrophobic.
ReplyDeleteWhy is everyone assuming the dwelling would be small?
DeleteFishing would be different
ReplyDeleteLOL
DeleteIt would be ok to visit and explore for while. But living there I don't think I would like it...I'm not a big fan of water.
ReplyDeleteCoffee is on
OK. Interesting.
DeleteVisit for sure, enjoy the surroundings but LIVE...NO, I have a respectful fear of water.
ReplyDeleteEven if you're under some sort of dome?
DeleteYes, I would love to live there!! I have been missing so much lately I need to double step my way through a bunch of blogs.
ReplyDeleteIt happens. I find the best way to do it is to take the blogs you've missed, and just miss them. Just work from this day forward.
DeleteI think it would be awesome if we could get to visit only at times! Not to live there for all the time, though :)
ReplyDeleteI don't see why that wouldn't be possible.
DeleteOh that is a huge ol honking no for me. I'm not about the ocean at all. Even if there's dwelling bits. lol
ReplyDeleteI think I would live there, at least part of the year. The rest would be by the shore. ~grin~ Hey, I may as well dream big. Be well!
ReplyDeleteSure, why not?
