So many terrible things happening all the time now. So, what can I find to talk about for this L day? How about:
Protesters Fill Minnesota Capitol, Read Letters from Children Held in Immigration Custody
I'm still a little salty from the conversation I had where they said, "It's not really that bad".
It's really that bad.
The concentration camps are "unbelievably inhumane". A family held at Texas' Dilley ICE detention center wrote letters describing neglectful medical care, inedible food and a disregard for their religious accommodations.
And this sort of thing will traumatize these kids for the rest of their lives. Even if the kids aren't taken.
Tuesdays are my day to rail against the current regime in power in the U.S. Even in April. Feel free to vent in the comments.
Today's A to Z Challenge post brought to you by the letter...

I try not to despair. But, it's difficult. It may be cynical, but I'm glad that I am so over the hill, I can't look over my shoulder to see the top anymore. Soon, Blogging Elvis will be leaving the building.
ReplyDeleteIt is overwhelming.
ReplyDeleteYes, we know it is really that bad.
ReplyDeleteIt’s almost like he’s on a mission to destroy this country. Every day my mind is further blown by the horrible things done by him and his hideous admin. And the way his supporters twist to justify his terrible behavior is just as mind boggling. If I believed in the supernatural, I could believe he was working for dark forces…
ReplyDeleteAlmost as if?
DeleteI started to read the letters, but "I miss my bear" got to me too much to continue. It's "that bad," and more likely much worse than that.
ReplyDeleteAll this was so distressing. I don't even know what an appropriate punishment would be at this point. Eternal damnation sounds too short. @samanthabwriter from
ReplyDeleteBalancing Act
I think more people need to learn: Don't be a good descendant, be a good ancestor. Don't be great again; be better than what has gone before.
ReplyDelete"I am five years old. I want to go home". Nine months. Worm infested food. No health care. So many of us feel so helpless and the government depends on that to grab more and more power. Followed by the utter audacity of claiming he was portraying himself as a healing doctor (we know the truth of that meme, though). What accounting will the future demand of us?
ReplyDeleteIt is heartbreaking. I don't understand the callousness.
ReplyDeleteI think what upsets me, and it's not just a problem in America, is that I grew up thinking we were set on peace, no more world wars, feminism on the rise, acceptance of difference but there were these bad actors working behind the scenes just trying to have things their way. I don't believe they will endure - like Orban in Hungary, but meanwhile the damage that's being done...
ReplyDeleteSame with the clueless people saying they don't listen to the news. You can't just stick you head in the sand and pretend nothing bad is happening.
ReplyDeleteI am surprised by nothing anymore.
ReplyDeleteChildren should never have to endure this.
ReplyDeleteTheir letters show the pain is real, and it’s heartbreaking that anyone would say it’s ‘not that bad.’
Thank you for reminding us to pay attention.
It is absolutely maddening. I've heard so many horror stories. Though I guess it shouldn't be surprising when you consider the sort of people that ICE recruits.
ReplyDeleteAt least children shouldn't be made bear the weight of our leaders' insanities.
ReplyDeleteAs a Native American, I'm angry but not surprised. I'm sure the ""pro-life"" party is probably also doing forced sterilization procedures on them, again. There were reports about that under the, uh, 45th president... think he improved with a four-year break?
ReplyDeleteI could go create a whole book with my feelings. But it wouldn't solve any of it and would absolutely get me disappeared forever. As it is, the people in charge debate if Native Americans should be granted citizenship and allowed to live on the land of their ancestors at all. So, yeah. I... lots of feelings... oh so many... 🤬
It's horrible.
