Last week I covered a world history class, and the above poster was on the wall in the classroom.
The term fascism has been bandied about a lot as of late with regards to our government. Have we gone full fascism? According to that dictionary definition, no. But, we are headed that way. Especially if those in charge get their way.
I mean, if you look, you can see all the awful things that are happening:
- ICE Violence Is Fueled by Misogyny and White Nationalism
- Holocaust Memorial Museum quietly changed content after Trump returned to office
- Donald Trump and the Deconstruction of America
- Wormy Food, Intimidating Guards, Sick Kids: Inside ICE’s Only Family Detention Center
- Worms in food, poor medical care, lights on 24/7: Families tell of life in Texas detention center
- Trump Admin Confirms 91 Wrongful Deportations of Asylum Seekers
- Fear Is the Goal: Trump’s anti-immigration push is backed by intense propaganda for a reason.
- ICE agents seen 'terrorizing' woman and child at SFO, Calif. senator says
- Hiding out with an immigrant family in ICE-occupied Memphis
- Musk Endorsed White Nationalism And the silence is deafening
- Is empathy a sin? Some conservative Christians argue it can be
- Immigrant truck drivers were supposed to get their licenses back. Why California’s DMV is stalling
Enough. For today. There's more, if you look.
I'm so tired of living in interesting times.
Today's A to Z Challenge post brought to you by the letter...

It's exhausting and frightening.
ReplyDeleteThe letter today fit perfectly with your Tuesday posts! There is something to be said about living in less interesting times, they were so much more relaxing, no being on edge, fearing the next big announcement. My first thought when I heard about Iran being attacked was, "Oh, I hope we didn't do that."
ReplyDeleteYeah, this letter kind of jumped out at me. Sometimes April just works, sadly.
DeleteIt is all overwhelming :(
ReplyDeleteIt really cuts into creativity to have your brain creativity funneled to "how do I make sure my family is safe" and "what do I need to do to help others without endangering them and me." I want more brain power to live my life.
ReplyDeleteExactly.
DeleteFascism seems to be spreading in too many countries including mine.
ReplyDeleteThere are very few guardrails left here in the US…
ReplyDeleteI read the Politico article on the Holocaust Museum. It's a clear case of obeying in advance. I am dreading tonight and what might happen (or not happen) at 8pm tonight. There's only so much of this that a thinking person can take and that is what our government is depending upon - throwing so much on us that our brains shut down from sheer exhaustion. And then we don't react. We're numb.
ReplyDeleteIt is a lot. I have no idea what your 8 PM reference is to, and I don't think I want to know.
DeleteHaving an uninteresting life can be a blessing, for sure. ~nods~ Be well.
ReplyDeleteI'm far from expert on different type of ruling governments. But it looks like we could be going down rabbit hole of fascist, or something close.
ReplyDeleteI worry about the elections this year.
My undergraduate degree is in history. "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it" Is one of my favorite phrases.
ReplyDeleteI doubt the US has ever gone through such times in modern times.
ReplyDeleteI feel the same. I'd like to go back to living in *precedented* times, please. @samanthabwriter from

There's always music, books and art to show us the way (especially if they've been banned!).
