Happy Friday. Here in the U.S. it is the day after Thanksgiving, and I am out of town. Since it is a vacation week, Friday is the day I post a random question.
What are you most looking forward to in December? What are you dreading for the upcoming month?
I don't really look forward to the holidays, although I will enjoy some time off. (Hopefully I won't get sick on Christmas again this year.) I think my big dread, though, is my upcoming dental appointment. I don't like it when they do x-rays. There's a whole gagging thing that happens that I would rather avoid. Sigh.
We have tickets for a couple of concerts, we are going to a special showing of “White Christmas” in a movie theater, we plan to go out with friends on Christmas Eve, and I think we’ll be having a few friends over for New Year’s. Hanukkah and Christmas coincide this year.
ReplyDeleteI hope you enjoy your concerts.
DeleteYear end means clusters of doctor's appointments for me and husband before a new year and a new deductible kick in. I dread some of those appointments. My activities are going to be somewhat limited this December due to the personal situation of a close family member. I don't think I am going to put our tree up but it's all good.
ReplyDeleteOh no. I hope things resolve well for you and your family member.
DeleteJamie:
ReplyDeleteThe weather (as cold as it can get in California), and the early darkness, which of course, is already happening. Just more to come in December.
I was just in Ohio. I think I'll enjoy our cold for a bit after getting on a plane in 18 degree weather this morning ;)
DeleteIt might seem backwards to look forward to my son going on a trip out of state for two weeks! A break in routines are always nice. There's the annual 1/2 day at a thrift store, and a brand new Goodwill opening on the 5th nearby! Not too exciting. I guess once the decorations are up I'll enjoy them. I dread the cold and dark. I also dread thinking in December of the home owners insurance due in January!
ReplyDeleteWill the new Goodwill have a grand opening event? That should be fun.
DeleteGrandchildren.
ReplyDeleteThey're always something to look forward to.
DeleteI’m looking forward to the 18th of December, the day I will retire!!! Yay! Of course it is possible they’ll ask me to stay a little longer to help train the person who will replace me, but that’s ok too. I’m looking forward not to have to get up at certain times to go to work, instead I will be doing the things I enjoy. At the moment I’m not dreading anything.
ReplyDeleteYay retirement :)
DeleteHi Liz - just 'tis the season ... kids and family ... just enjoy the holiday time ... and relax re the dentist .. all the best - Hilary
ReplyDeleteI look forward to Christmas just because I love the carols, the lights, stars, and the Christmas trees. The season is so joyful that there's no dread anywhere in the vicinity.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you have all good feelings for the holiday.
DeleteAs for what I’m looking forward to in December, I’d say it's the opportunity to unwind, reflect on the year, and just enjoy some peaceful downtime. I’m also looking forward to cozy evenings, maybe some good books or movies, and spending time with family.
ReplyDeleteSounds great.
DeleteI'm looking forward to my daughter and I making Christmas cookies.
ReplyDeleteI hope you stay healthy and I'm happy for Marina. :D We don't miss traveling over holidays anymore while harboring happy memories. I anticipate doing some winter vegetable planting we just learned about today. Be well!
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't travel over the holidays except that's the only time I have off. I hope you'll post about your winter vegetables once you get them planted.
DeleteThanks for the kind words. I need to get busy on this new project but it needs to be warmer first. lol
DeleteI'm grateful that I've a seasonal job here in town selling very exquisite, locally-made chocolates.
ReplyDeleteNot really looking forward to it as I've already started the gig. :)
DeleteOooh, I want to hear all about it. I hope you're enjoying the work.
DeleteIt's my birthday month so I'm looking forward to that. :) Time flies, huh?
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday.
DeleteI am looking forward to Christmas and all the festive joy it brings! It’s such a special time to relax, enjoy family, and create wonderful memories.
ReplyDeleteI hope your x-rays aren't too bad. I actually enjoy going to the dentist for the most part, but I hate the x-rays.
ReplyDeleteI haven't been able to muster up much enthusiasm so far this month. I normally enjoy the Christmas tree/lights, but we haven't put anything up and probably aren't going to at this point.
That's too bad. But if you're not feeling it, you're not feeling it. It really isn't too late to decorate, if you're in the mood. This might not be the year for it, though.
