Hated

It's Thursday, so it's time for my my weekly random question...

I've got villains on the brain. I just went and saw Maleficent. And the other morning the DJs on a radio station were discussing the ten most hated men in America...

What if you were suddenly reviled by those around you? How would you react?

  1. Well, I want to know what I did first, and why I did it. What was my motivation for doing something I would be reviled for? Hmm, that IS an interesting question. What if you did something that made people hate you but there was a good reason for doing it?

  2. I'd become a hermit and have a lot of dogs.

    1. Dogs? Not cats? (I thought hermits had cats.)

  4. ughh-I was living that through my school years. Unfortunately I went within and tried not to be noticed...which didn't work. Now I would laugh, sing a song and tell them to get a life. If there was nothing I truly did, which often can be the case for people to just be bullies anyway then you have no control over how they act but you have control over your reaction to them. Ignoring them and being happy within your own skin is the sweetest revenge

  5. What do you mean, 'what if'? I'm a lawyer. HA HA I CRACK ME UP.

I don't know if I could handle that. I mean, if people quietly hated me and I didn't have to deal with them much okay, maybe I could get by. But 'reviled'? So they're yelling stuff at me or won't wait on me at restaurants and my house gets egged and stuff? That would be hard to take.

Plus, I want to be liked. I don't want to deal with people much, as I'm kind of a loner, but there's a difference between being alone by choice and being alone because people hate you.

    1. If you're hated in silence, then it wouldn't really impact you. If you're hated and you know it, then you have something to react to.

  6. Did you like the movie? This is a very interesting question. I definitely wouldn't like it, but as a Christian, it is potentially possible down the road we could be reviled and in some countries are reviled. I think I would react with lots of prayer and Bible reading.

  7. Hmm, that's tough. I guess I wouldn't shower, leave my house, or invite people over...wait, that sounds like me now when I'm in the writing groove! Lol. Totally kidding. (kind of)

  8. I've seen this happen - thankfully not to me - and for no good reason other than that gang mentality that can infiltrate the workplace and some poor soul becomes useless, hated, ineffective. I think if I did something to deserve the hatred, I would be able to handle it somehow. But if it was through no fault of my own - I would disappear and start over somewhere else if I could. Probably weak - but once the crowd/gang/hoard decide - reason, the truth, allies and a stamp of approval by any number of people won't fix it.

    1. That is true. You can't convince someone they're wrong, not if they want to be wrong.

I appreciate your comments.

I respond to comments* via email, unless your profile email is not enabled. Then, I'll reply in the comment thread. Eventually. Probably.

*Exception: I do not respond to "what if?" comments, but I do read them all. Those questions are open to your interpretation, and I don't wish to limit your imagination by what I thought the question was supposed to be.
