Housing Bill

This popped up in my feed last week. (If you can't see the video, here's the link.)

Or, if you want written, here's an article about it: Senate approves sweeping bipartisan housing bill, but roadblocks remain in the House

And this sounds like a good idea. This might be something to call your congressional reps about, if you're so inclined.

  1. He has his house (well, ours) so who cares about others? Not him. He's already a bad tenant in the one now.

  2. When I try to play the video (on my Mac) I get a request asking my permission for Facebook to track my being on your website.. I deny the permission and then the video doesn't play. Nice that my Mac gives me this warning. Oh well, I'll have to read instead.

    1. Update, I was able to watch the video on my Windows computer. 100%, I say, and I don't care if the Facebook overlords know I watched the video.

  3. "No one gives a shit about housing."
In years past, I would have researched this quote because it sounds so ludicrous, that it can't be real.
But, I consider the source and realize that it's totally something he'd say.

  5. I read the CBS News story ... It is interesting that the bill has got such solid bipartisan support. It guess that is because affordable housing is such a big issue now. Will the bill sail through easily in the House as well?

  6. I think people who want to own a house really give a shit about housing. And those with no roof over their heads. Around here in this county building goes on nonstop, houses and apartments being built constantly. They seem to immediately fill up too but lots are bought or rented by out of staters so I don't think its bringing down local housing prices at all.

  7. The housing crisis is in Canada as well. It's crazy...cheap is $1,500/mth. My friend got a 3 bedroom, she has 2 kids, and the cost is $2,300mth. I believe greed happened right after Covid with groceries and landlords. If you look at the inflation rate from 2022 to now, in Canada it went up 40%

  8. I read that some women in Canada feel it necessary to trade, er..., her company for housing. ~shudder~
