Our Twitter Selves

At the heart of much speculative fiction (and fiction in general) is a question. What if? On Tuesdays I like to throw one out there and see what you make of it. Do with it as you please. If a for-instance is not specified, feel free to interpret that instance as you wish. And if you find this becomes a novel-length answer, I'd appreciate a thank you in the acknowledgements. 😉

Today's question was inspired by something I saw on Twitter:

(Which is funny as my Twitter password is the one I can never remember. The only reason I can log in is because that password is stored in my devices, but if I try to log in to Twitter from anywhere else, I can't get in.)

OK. So...

What if your memory was failing (amnesia, dementia, a magical spell that deleted your memory...), and all you had to go on to figure you out were your tweets from Twitter? (And your likes, I would assume.)

  1. I would be screwed as I am not on twitter. If i had to learn from another way, there would be so many holes as i don't give much out on Facebook. The most would be on my blog. If I learned from there, I would at least know I like movies and creating cards

    1. Yeah, not all of us are Twitter-fied. I don't think this would work for our blogs, as we are very much ourselves there.

  2. I'm with Birgit, I would be screwed too since I'm not on Twitter or for that matter doing much on Facebook these days. Maybe I'll have fun creating a new personality!

  3. At least I would know I'm an author, that I like RiffTrax, and I'm somehow involved with the IWSG...

  4. I'd think that I thought I was funny, but sometimes rather angry as well.

  5. I would be pretty clueless with my personal Twitter. The DLP one might help more.

  6. I don't know if I tweet enough to get a good idea of who I am from it. I tend to be wary of revealing too much anyway. I'd probably end up with more questions than answers.

  7. I might be okay having a sense of myself since I have Facebook linked to Twitter and I share my blog posts on Facebook.

  8. I'd only know I auto post a bunch from my blog onto twitter haha

    1. Ah, but blog posts would tell you a whole lot, wouldn't they?

  9. I don't have a personal Twitter account, only a movie one, so I'd be a very one-dimensional person!

    1. I'm finding it interesting how few commenters are active on Twitter.

  10. I would probably think that Palaye Royale employed me as a public relations person for their music. Heh...

  11. I would find out who I followed and have to hope that shed some light. Not on FB so would really be relying on remembering my blog.

  12. That would be scary. Of course, there are probably people on twitter that only know me from my tweets. I guess depending on which twitter password I remembered, I might find my blog which would help a great deal, so that's cool. Benefit to "living online"? 😳

    1. We have a whole online personality that is the only interaction some have. Weird, isn't it?

  13. This is a very interesting one... I do have a Twitter account. But none of the tweets are personal ones, even though the account is not an official one. They are all related to current affairs and news developments; some my tweets, and a lot of retweets.
One thing for sure I will know about myself is my name, my designation in office, which organisation I work for, and the city where I work. That should be good enough to get more details about myself. :-)

    1. Not very many of my commenters are active on Twitter. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not.

  14. LOL I have trouble with my twitter password, too.

Eh I'd get a little from it but I don't twitter as much as I facebook. FB I'd get a fairly accurate portrayal, I think. And since some of my tweets link to FB posts that would work lol

  15. I would be out of luck. I follow people on twitter primarily to get other opinion on current events but I comment very little.
I am actually here as part of the A to Z April Challenge "road trip". I'm trying to get around to as many participants as possible before April rolls around again. I've enjoyed reading your blog - I don't think I could ever have done the subsitute teaching. I remember what substitutes went through when I was in school. Kudos to you. All the best. Hope to see you next April.

I appreciate your comments.

I respond to comments* via email, unless your profile email is not enabled. Then, I'll reply in the comment thread. Eventually. Probably.

*Exception: I do not respond to "what if?" comments, but I do read them all. Those questions are open to your interpretation, and I don't wish to limit your imagination by what I thought the question was supposed to be.
