Silent Witness

It's Tuesday, so it's time for my weekly random question...

I just finished watching this week's Doctor Who episode in which the Doctor posited his own what if...

Don't worry if you haven't seen the episode. It's not really a spoiler as the Doctor said this early on.

What if we all have a silent companion with us our whole lives? A companion who we never see, but is with us all the time?

Okay, so it wasn't quite phrased like that (I probably should have stopped the DVR and wrote it down as he said it), but it's kind of the gist. It's an interesting thing to ponder. It's also interesting to take the question away from the show and see where you can go with it.

  1. I think I do have a constant companion with me - it's me, but another version of me. I cheer me up. I make me do the things I want to avoid. I remind myself of what is important. I don't think of it as a conscience. I always think of the other me as a friend. Sign me up for therapy, I suppose. But I've always felt that way. It might be nice if it were a different person or thing. I lovely ghost from the past or my future or a fluffy dog or my daughter's pink stuffed monkey "Bubbles" come to life...but then she's have to be invisible and we're pretty attached to her...good heavens, time to stop sharing!!! Great question!

  2. It's like the invisible friend we had when we were young. I think it would be neat. I would look at it as my guardian angel. Hey! It could be Harvey-the big Rabbit-he would be a great friend

I appreciate your comments.

I respond to comments* via email, unless your profile email is not enabled. Then, I'll reply in the comment thread. Eventually. Probably.

*Exception: I do not respond to "what if?" comments, but I do read them all. Those questions are open to your interpretation, and I don't wish to limit your imagination by what I thought the question was supposed to be.
