The wavy second side? Still wavy.
The first side is heading towards lettuce, too.
And right now both are about the same size. Woo-hoo!
But now I have a dilemma. Do I rip back the second side in an effort to tame the wave? Or do I wait?
Normally, I would have ripped this back days ago. But in three days I'm getting on a plane, and I'll see the recipient of the finished sweater (whenever it actually gets finished). And at that time, I can measure it against her.
Although, I have hours on a plane. With nothing to do. I might just have the time to redo what I rip out...
I mean, I was trying to make sure the second side followed the increase pattern of the first, but we saw how that came out. I could instead just do what I did for the first, and see how flat it lies as I figure out which increases to do.
The more I write this out, the more I like this plan. It makes sense.
My mind is whirling. While I may talk myself out of this, it's more likely that by the time you read this, that second side will be completely frogged, and I'll be working my way back.
As I'll be travelling, next Monday's post may or may not be up-to-date. (I've written most of the posts for while I'm away. I'll be checking in. But Monday's posts may or may not appear. I haven't decided yet.)
The Reluctant Sweater:
Deus caritas est!
ReplyDeleteThe one good thing is you are going to get a lot of blog posts out of this one project. Frogging is never pleasant, but that second piece may not be salvageable without a lot of frogging. Wishing you safe travels without any delays.
ReplyDeleteIt feels like I went off the rails with the center of the second side, so I was doomed from the start. Thanks.
DeleteSafe & happy travels!
ReplyDeletethecontemplativecat here. Safe journey and come back with stories.
ReplyDeleteThanks. Will do.
DeleteI wish you a safe and enjoyable trip.
ReplyDeleteThanks.

ReplyDeleteA little wavy isn't bad.
ReplyDeleteSafe travels!
This is more than a little, sadly. I've already ripped back, so hopefully this fixes the issue.
DeleteAlana above made me smile.
ReplyDeleteAnd she's correct, too.
DeleteGood luck! Pretty purple 💜
ReplyDeleteI have no skill in this, nor any idea how to make it flat (big, heavy, book pile? 📚📚)
Hope you go somewhere awesome.
Nope, ripping back is the only solution. And that's done now. It'll give me something to do on the plane, so bonus. (I'm visiting my brother. In Ohio.)
DeleteSometimes the yarn tells us what it wants, even if it means frogging.
ReplyDeleteAt least you’ll have plenty of plane time to make progress again. Safe travels, and I’m sure the sweater will be worth the extra effort!
Have a great trip. I love the colors for this sweater. I love purple!
ReplyDeleteHave a great trip and im sure you will fix the ripples. Loving the colours
ReplyDeleteYup, ripping it all out was the solution. Still working it back.
DeleteI’m sure you’ll figure outwhatyouneed to fo
ReplyDeleteThe second try is going better, although I haven't gotten as far as I would like yet.
