Palm Trees

Back in October, I was standing in line at a taco truck when the sky behind the palm trees just called to me:

And that is all.

Do you like palm trees? Do you have a favorite tree? Any good food trucks in your area?

Today's A to Z Challenge post brought to you by the letter...

  1. I do! Being a transplant from Oregon, I find them so "California"

    1. They are so ubiquitous around here that I barely notice them.

  2. I like that photo, I'd have been drawn to it too. I'm not a fan of palm trees that tall in rows. I'm not a fan of them in my city, they don't fit in with our forests of cedar and Douglas fir! The In-and-Out added them, tall and rowed, as I guess it's their thing? Silly. I loved seeing real coconut palms in Puerto Rico and do like the native California fan palms, in their proper places! Well, I seem to have quite a lot to say about palm trees! I can't think of a favorite tree. There are a lot of food trucks downtown, but I've never been to any of them. If I did it would be one of the taco trucks.

    1. I'm surprised you have palm trees near you. But, yeah, In-and-Out. I get that.

  3. I love those California tall palm trees. They always amaze me as they do not fall or bend. I have many different favorite trees for different reasons. I like flowering trees like dogwoods, pears, jacarandas.... I like evergreens and very tall trees.

    1. Oh, they bend. It's just that the wind has to really be blowing.

  4. I have loved palm trees since I saw them for the first time, visiting family in Florida in 1966. I loved them when I lived in Florida for nearly two years, when I visited San Diego in 1996, in several trips to South Carolina (well, palmettos). I loved them visiting Florida now and again and I'll love them if I ever see them again in person. Why? I'm not really sure. I just love them.

    1. I'm sorry you don't get to see them in person that often. They're everywhere here. My dad has one on his front lawn. I see them daily.

  5. I like it. Reminds me of the skies here with the palm trees.

  6. That's a beautiful shot. One of my favorite Ohio trees is the river birch with its white, paper thin bark. My grandparents had one and I wish I'd planted one instead of some of my other landscape choices. After reading your comment, I think I need to purchase marshmallows. :) Be well!

    1. The trick to s'mores is to *not* put the chocolate in the air fryer. Let the residual heat from the marshmallow melt it.

  7. Palm trees do make me happy. Some types grow in the coastal areas of North Carolina where I live, so I usually get to see them at least once a year! @samanthabwriter from

  8. I like palm trees, when I see them I know I’m far from home and on vacation.

You asked about food trucks. There’s a church here in my town that has “food truck fridays” all summer long. We tend to show up when the lobster truck is there.

There’s also a “food truck Friday” at the local VFW Hall, run by the woman who used to run the event at the church. None of the trucks at VFW go to the church event.

Between the two events there’s lots of variety

    1. They have food truck gatherings here sometimes, but I haven't been to one in years. So many choices.

  9. Here in Malaysia they’re everywhere--lining streets, beaches, and even tucked into neighborhoods. I’ve grown up seeing them daily, so they feel like part of the landscape.

  10. I seen palm trees on vacations but I'm not fond of them to look at To me, a tree is something you can sit under for shade and to hear the leaves rustle in a breeze and see birds and squirrels make into homes. My favorite tree is the mighty oak.

We have food trucks in city parks and at fairs and carnivals but I have not been to one in years.

    1. Yeah, as I stood waiting for my quesadilla, I was struck by the image. I didn't quite catch the magic of it, though.

  12. Yes, I do love palm trees! We have a lot here in the South of France along with large pines like umbrellas. Love the sound of the palms waving under the gentle wind ;) Your photo has also a beautiful sky.

  14. No palm trees or food trucks nearby. Even though I've seen palm trees before, I still do a double take, because it seems crazy they can stand up on their own.

  15. Palm trees are quite majestic with their height and the crown on top. My state, Kerala, is famous for its coconut trees, a kind of palm. I have a few of them around my house too supplying me with all the coconuts we use in our cooking.

  16. Hi Liz, I don't see any palm trees, so I love the photo. I also love your knitting.
I response to your question on my blog, I think those videos can be helpful in any scenario where you want to have or provide a calm setting.

  17. Sadly, it's been a while since I've even seen a food truck. I should try to find one of those food truck "events" soon.
    Great shot! Thanks for sharing.
