Digging into Glonzo

Just a few thoughts this week:

While perusing Bluesky (as I do), someone had linked to an article from 2017 titled "The Al Capone Theory of Sexual Harassment". In a nutshell, the idea was that, "often people who engage in sexually predatory behavior also faked expense reports, plagiarized writing, or stole credit for other people’s work." (That's quoted from the article. Click on the link to get the full explanation.)

Not that there's any specific reason I'd be mentioning this at the moment, you understand...

Indivisible is doing a training thing. "We’re launching a national effort to train one million people in the tools and tactics to fight authoritarianism. Next session is July 30." The first training session was the 16th. The video is below:

Then, MeidasTouch host Ben Meiselas presents the Indivisible One Million Rising Initiative to train one million people in how to best participate in the peaceful protests and mass mobilization:

As of Sunday, it's been six months since the regime began. Dismantling the federal government, yanking support for poor and working-class Americans, and emboldening extremism have been among his accomplishments so far.

And finally, a little post about "The Glonzo Strategy". What's a Glonzo?

If 25% of the population believed that a creature called ‘Glonzo’ caused high power prices by chewing through transmission lines, any competent politician would be negligent in not trying to find a way to exploit this. This doesn’t mean that these people wouldn’t be fucking morons.

Feel free to rant in the comments.

  1. I believe it, if you have loose or no guidelines -why wouldn't it extend to everything.

  3. What I’ve been focused on this week is the firing of Stephen Colbert. I don’t believe CBS’s excuse one bit. I fear that shows like the Daily Show are going to be next. Stewart has said comedians arethe canaries in the coal mine, and we are already suffocating from the fumes.

    1. They are complying in advance. Sigh. Although, Paramount is doing a merger thing, and there may be back channel things happening that are requiring them to comply to get that merger. Not great, of course, but I'm assuming there's pressure that we're not hearing about.

  4. A Glonzo monster that is the reason for high energy prices. Interesting.

I appreciate your comments.

I respond to comments* via email, unless your profile email is not enabled. Then, I'll reply in the comment thread. Eventually. Probably.

*Exception: I do not respond to "what if?" comments, but I do read them all. Those questions are open to your interpretation, and I don't wish to limit your imagination by what I thought the question was supposed to be.
