Good Progress

...if I do say so myself.

The bulky yarn helps, as does just knitting a couple rows a night. I didn't get to knit every night, but I'm knitting more now that things have cooled off a bit. 

I did not get around to figuring out how to create a video of the progress. It's one of those things that I'm going to have to have the headspace for before I attempt, and then it'll probably take me way less time than I anticipate. 

While I work on this sweater, I have to think realistically about the requests I got in July for Christmas. 

I have officially given up on knitting the twins anything for Christmas this year. They requested Minecraft sweaters. As I know little about Minecraft, I went in search of patterns. I could not find anything. I found some sweaters, but no pattern for them. I found patterns for Minecraft critters, but those I'd have to adapt somehow, and I really don't have the time, especially considering how far along I'm on this sweater for their big brother. 

So, I bought them Minecraft sweaters. Well, sweatshirts. One wanted just a green Minecraft sweater and one wanted an ugly Christmas Minecraft sweater. If I have any time, I did find a pattern for a Minecraft beanie. But it's more likely that I'll have time in January or February for that. 

Kinda a fail, but at least I've managed to make something for two of the four nephews.

    The sweater is coming along nicely.

    I'm impressed that you even consider making so many Christmas gifts. I'm such a slow crocheter I'd be nervous to plan on anything I made as a Christmas gift.

      Oh, I warned them that I wasn't going to have time to finish everything. If I'd've found patterns for the twins' choices, I would have done them.

    Good for you for knowing your limitations! I don't knit, but guess July is late to start knitting three sweaters, what with you're working.

      Depends on the sweaters. If I was working more diligently, and I had patterns (and I was using bulky yarn), it could be doable.

    You are doing a great job on the sweater. I'm sure the twins will be happy with anything Minecraft handmade or not - don't stress over it.

      I'm not. I feel a little bad about it, but I'll spend time on something that'll last them longer than their childhoods.

    They will still appreciate them even if you didn't make them. Although as popular as Minecraft is, I'm surprised there weren't patterns.

      7th graders are crazy. Puppies with hormones. It takes a special kind of person to deal with those people year after year.

    Good for you in realizing not all the projects were going to happen. You have to come first and if the research comes up empty, then what? You came up with a good alternative I'm sure will still delight the twins.

    Adjusting or creating a pattern from scratch sounds like a nightmare! I am a sucker for minecraft axolotls, so I bet that would be cute in anything knitted. It sounds like you have a great plan with the sweatshirts and maybe beanies later.
