My progress since last week isn't.
Doesn't look any different? Yeah, that's because I knit something like six rows on Saturday. It's been a week.
That vacant art class I'm teaching until the teacher can start? They've hired someone, but she can't start until her clearance comes through. So, we're waiting on that.
And remember back when the upstairs neighbor flooded my room? This time it was the kitchen and the master bathroom. This time his toilet didn't stop running. For a week. The water seeped from the upstairs into the wall, and... Well, it's a mess. It's been a week of machines drying out the kitchen and master bathroom. Tearing out cabinets and flooring.
So, when I've been at work, I've been dealing with teaching stuff. When I've been at home I've been navigating a torn up kitchen (and parking concerns as the garage is in this equation as well). And I just haven't been able to just sit in front of the TV and knit.
The good news: I only have two more inches before this back of the sweater is finished:
The bad news: between lesson planning/grading and everything taking longer at home due to kitchen remediation, I doubt I'll have any time to actually knit. Sigh.
I could use the time to just work on some knitting to de-stress. At least it cooled off a little. But those dehumidifier machines really heat up a place. (Too bad it isn't winter. They would be wonderful in the winter.)
Sweater Tracking:
No wonder the knitting hasn’t gotten much love with everything else going on. Those drying machines are no joke either I can totally see how they’d make things even more uncomfortable.
ReplyDeleteAm I right?
Yes. So much so. Sigh.
DeleteOh no. Teaching stuff aside the home situation sounds hellish. Sorry you have to go through all of that.. water damage is no joke.
ReplyDeleteI haven't had much time to crochet either. I'm sorry about your water issues. A friend who lives in a condo has had leakage problems about four times in the last year. I hope yours gets resolved.
ReplyDeleteThe first time he denied there was any leak, this time he left his toilet running. Now, I've had a running toilet, and it uses a lot of water, but none of it ever leaked out. I hope he's a renter and after this second issue he gets evicted. If he's an owner, I hope his insurance goes up when they prove it's his fault! If your drying machines are like the ones I had in my bathroom to dry the floor before repairs, you have my sympathy. So loud, and make things so hot.
ReplyDeleteStill in denial. "We don't use that side of the house." Yeah, right. You didn't notice that the toilet was continually running for a week? "It wasn't a problem. We have tile." Uh, yeah, but the water goes somewhere...
DeleteHe's a renter. Will the owner kick him out? Unlikely.
Yes, the hot machines went in during the heat wave. So, just not a fun time right now.
We always go through periods of things going smoothly and periods when everything happens: things break, expenses for everything that breaks....and life goes on. Just think that it will pass :-) That's what i do...
ReplyDeleteI just had a feeling it was time for them to flood us again. I just knew it. I'm glad it wasn't my bedroom this time, though. The kitchen is awful, but much easier than me personally being displaced.
DeleteThat's awful - disruptive (and I know about dehumidifiers throwing off heat), and almost has the feel of a People's Court case, if only that show was still on.
ReplyDeleteI would love to sue them again. But, I don't think they'd learn anything from it.
DeleteYou have such a lovely neighbor …
ReplyDeleteI know, right?
DeleteJamie here: I don't know what happened to the comment you left on my post.
ReplyDeleteConsidering the week I've had... Yeah, probably a glitch on my end.
DeleteOooh, today your blog knows me so I can comment. I'm so sorry about the awful upstairs tenant. But I hear you on the lack of time. I've been crocheting a scarf for so long it is now spring and it still isn't finished. I guess it means I'll have a new one for next winter!
ReplyDeleteAt least we're getting fall now ;)
DeleteThat's pretty much to deal with.
ReplyDeleteYeah, it's a lot.
DeleteThat's awful, to be flooded out by an upstairs neighbor. Didn't he or she report the toilet issue before causing such a wreck of your place?
ReplyDeleteNope. He claimed he had no idea his toilet was running.
DeleteSoon, the warmth of the knitting yarn will feel good on your lap. I hope you find the time to unwind!
ReplyDeleteHopefully soon.
DeleteOh boy, not fun to have water damage. I hope the dehumidifiers worked well and that it is once again properly habitable. Lovely knit by the way!
