A Month Late

So, it's been a minute since I talked about eldest nephew's Christmas sweater. Because I hadn't touched it in a while. The only knitting I'd been doing had been on Saturdays when I went out, and when I got the sweater to within a half inch of binding off, I couldn't very well take it with me. But last week I managed to finish off the back and start the front, so progress has been made.

The back is done:

It's drop sleeves, and the collar is knit on after, so it's just one big rectangle.

Then the front, thus far:

So, not much there, yet, but it's begun.

My goal was to get the back completed by the end of August. I finished it by the end of September. Ah well.

Now that I'm not distracted by lesson planning and grading (as I'm back to day-to-day subbing), I will have some more head space to get back to this sweater. Will I finish it in time for Christmas? I don't like my chances.

But, progress.

  1. Maybe the little bit of days for Thanksgiving will help? It looks lovely, you're so talented.

    1. That would be an excellent time to finish things up, assuming I'm far enough along at that point. Fingers crossed.

  2. Progress is progress.. and if it's a little late then so be it.. your nephew knows it being handmade and he won't mind. I wish I had an aunt hand knitting me goodies.

  3. This is looking so great! I love the color. I would love to knit a sweater but I am a beginner so I am starting out with a beanie haha. You are inspiring me to keep learning!

    1. You can totally knit a sweater as a beginner. It's just more knitting than a beanie. Actually, a beanie is harder as it has more shaping.

  4. Hoping you are not pressuring yourself. It will get done. If it isn't done in time, your nephew will understand (because I know you wouldn't be making him homemade gifts if he didn't appreciate them!). It will get done! I always have confidence in you.

    1. I'm not. I just kind of want to get it done in time for Christmas (and his birthday). It'd be nice.

    1. Ah, but that's the issue. I don't have the time or energy to work on it *every* day.

  7. It'll get there, you always come through. Winter lasts longer there, right? So, even a bit late will get lots of use.

  8. Makes me remember that I have a bday temp blanket in the works that I have not worked on in months......but no rush at all. I find it had to work on things to do with yarn in the summer months.

    1. Yeah, that's why I'm hesitant to do a temperature blanket. I just know me and how much time I won't be working on it. Maybe a temperature scarf...
