Today is my birthday. (No, it's not a decade one.) And, as it's Thursday, it's time for a Thursday 13.
Several years ago, my brother got all of our very old pictures digitized. And then he uploaded them to Google Images. In honor of my birthday, I'm posting images of me as a kid. Just because.
 |
1. Me as a newborn. Although, I have a couple pics where I had just... ahem... emerged, I think I'll go with one after I've been cleaned up a bit. |
 |
2. I searched year by year, and this is me at somewhere near one-year-old. |
 |
3. I do not remember this pic, but I recognize the couch, and I recognize the room. This was taken in the house I grew up in, in the living room. (The kitchen was behind that wall behind me.) |
 |
4. Same location as photo #3, just a different angle. And about a year later. |
 |
5. My hair still kind of curls like that. But I wear it longer now, so I can kind of tame that weird wave away. |
 |
6. I vaguely remember this dress. |
 |
7. As the years go on, it gets harder to find pictures of me solo. The feet and hand to the right of me in this photo are of my brother. |
 |
8. I look perturbed. I don't know why I was perturbed. But I loved this dress. |
 |
9. The year I was the Pink Panther for Halloween. (Mom made the costume. Mom made all my costumes until the costumes stopped somewhere around junior high.) |
 |
10. Not my cowboy hat. But we kids liked "borrowing" the cowboy hat. |
 |
11. I remember this jacket. I don't remember anything else from this photo. |
 |
12. The t-shirt says "Catalina" as in Catalina Island. (We had visited not long before this.) |
 |
13. Me in glasses. I think I still have this pair lying around somewhere. I started wearing contact lenses when I was a freshman in high school. |
Happy Birthday! You do look perturbed in that one shot! It doesn't look like you were a pre-teen yet, so it must have been about some real injustice! I was a pill at 13. Then again at 17, but that was a disagreement with parents over a man. Yes, a man, not a boy. They were right. My mother made a lot of my costumes. They would later double as pajamas, tails being just safety pinned on.
ReplyDeleteThanks. I seem to recall that dress in lower elementary school--kindergarten or 1st grade.
DeleteJamie here: Happy birthday!!
ReplyDeleteThanks.
DeleteHappy birthday. There's a photo taken when I was maybe 11 or 12 of me storming into the woods for some reason - I wish I knew where it was now, but your perturbed picture reminded me of one of my pre teen moments captured on film. It was interesting seeing you grow up. I don't have many pictures of same and they aren't digitalized.
ReplyDeleteI think the photo I'm thinking of was taken at Bear Mountain - no woods near where I grew up!
DeleteWorth it to get it digitized. My brother sent them off to some company to do several years ago.
DeleteHappy birthday to you! These photos are great!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! I had a dress very similar to that red one, I wore it in my 2nd grade school photo. The perturbed shot is funny, I wish you could remember what was going on - maybe just too many pictures being taken?
ReplyDeleteNo idea. It was likely a birthday, and those always went *so well* .
DeleteHappy birthday
ReplyDeleteYou were a cute kid!
Thanks.
DeleteHappy Birthday and I love that dress too. Cute photos!
ReplyDeleteThanks.
DeleteA great 13 edition! Happppppy birthday!
ReplyDeleteThanks.
DeleteMerriest bday to you! Isn't it fun looking at old pics. Cute little girl.
ReplyDeleteIt is. I can get so sucked into those old photos, and especially since they're online...
DeleteSweet. I love the innocence and nostalgia here. Happy birthday!
ReplyDeleteThanks.
DeleteHappy Birthday, and many more.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday :)
ReplyDeleteThanks.
DeleteHappy birthday!
ReplyDeleteThanks.
DeleteThis is Birgit and I’m wishing you a belated Happy Birthday! I hope you had a great time and a great birthday weekend. ThNk you for sharing the pictures. You are very cute in that turquoise outfit.
ReplyDeleteThanks. I don't remember wearing the turquoise outfit, but I was rather young there, so I'm not surprised.
DeleteHappy birthday! Weren't you just the cutest!
ReplyDeleteThanks.
DeleteOh, happy birthday! I especially like the Pink Panther costume. You were adorable. What a great memory with your mom, who made it.
ReplyDeleteThe mom memories hit different now that she's passed.
DeleteFirst of all, belated birthday greetings. It's so lovely to see you in the various phases.
ReplyDeleteThanks.
DeleteWish you a Happy Birthday, Liz :-) Have a fabulous year ahead! Nice set of pics ...
ReplyDeleteThat reminds me... I have a lot of 'negatives' (as in photos) lying in the cupboard. One of the well-known studios here had told me they would give me digital photos from the negatives. That technology wasn't available once when I had checked with them. Now I must remember to take those negatives to them, and get the photos.
Hi Liz - very belated birthday ... what a fun set of photos - great to see them - cheers Hilary
