A new book came out last week. It's called Into the Wood Chipper: A Whistleblower’s Account of How the Trump Administration Shredded USAID.
I've been trying to figure out what I wanted to write about today that had something to do with the letter R, and I came up blank. But then I remembered the game. For A to Z, my game is to write what I would normally write for the day and then try to figure out a title with the letter of the day. This week is proving to be troublesome. Although my Tuesday theme is on point (see graphic above).
And this week it's that book. Because the damage those idiots did to the world at large is massive. They've been making the rounds publicizing the book:
- Whistleblower says Trump officials thought USAID did 'just abortions,' asked for 'Barney-style' slides before gutting agency, per new book
- “Into the Wood Chipper”: Whistleblower’s Inside Story of DOGE Shredding USAID, 14 Million May Die
Check out the book if you're so inclined. And remember, the regime killed people just to "fix the deficit", and they didn't fix anything.
Link for Amazon. Link for Bookshop.org (in case you don't do Amazon).
No questions today. Just an open forum to rant if you are so inclined.
Today's A to Z Challenge post brought to you by the letter...

I hadn't heard of it, I'll check it out.
ReplyDeleteI hadn't heard of it either. I like that the author went with wood chipper rather than paper shredder, sounds bigger, noisier, more permanent, more dangerous.
ReplyDeleteWood chipper is a direct quote from someone in DOGE, Musk probably.
DeleteI hadn't heard of this one.
ReplyDeleteI knew about the first link. The depth of ignorance is no surprise but too many people still don't "get it". Unless something happens, like a friend or loved one being victimized. Then they care.
ReplyDeleteRage.. oh I have so much rage that I will staying away from that book. I want to go back to a time where I didn't need to be so invented in politics. When it was just this thing working in the background of my life not infecting every aspect of it.
ReplyDeleteI still can't believe 45/47 gutted the USAID. I hope they are able to reconstruct it once he's gone. The cruelty of this administration knows no bounds.
ReplyDeleteThis is the second time someone's speaking about this book. I'm sure it offers shocking details. Given Trump's nature he can do more than shocking.
ReplyDeleteI'll have to check out this book! @samanthabwriter from

So much horror and destruction oozes out of this admin on the daily. It all will take ages to repair, and of course these needless deaths can’t be fixed 🙁
ReplyDeleteI hadn't heard of this.
ReplyDeleteThe Rage isn't ours - it is the worlds. Dozens of countries, millions of people who held a love one for the last time because US didn't keep the promises made. They will remember. USA will never be respected again; the country just got a bunch of organized haters - both legitimate (people who would have been allies and supporters and customers of USA products and now won't be) and illegitimate (the T word who are just out for revenge). The way is lost, and no one will follow.
ReplyDeleteForeign aid is often a target for right-wingers around the world, but of course it is also soft-power and can give far more to the donor than it costs...
ReplyDeleteBut you can't convince them of that, sadly.
DeleteI have a lot of very strong "feelings" 🤬 on him and his followers and what has happened.
ReplyDeleteI have feelings about the 45th administration, because I have a relative who was in the military, and he and his fellow military friend had a day pass for leave, so they were with a family celebrating a child's birthday, and suddenly... the entire neighborhood vanished. ""Vanished"" - finger air quotes.
The dozen phone calls from people begging for help, inadmissible in court. The military? Declared the guys AWOL. So, yeah. There's more, the story gets worse, dark, horrible. I don't talk about it.
Not one good thing has come from 45 or 47. Not one damn decent thing.
i've never heard of the book, but i agree Trump and his people have done a lot of damage and managed to do it in a relatively short amount of time. the callousness is mindboggling.
ReplyDeleteA lot of people have died because of bad policy.
