A middle schooler is kind of young for serious, police-involved punishment, but the embarrassment might actually teach her a lesson.J E Fritzhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03372746219262163566noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8925412579189247293.post-81651394220730474282013-05-28T18:07:35.675-07:002013-05-28T18:07:35.675-07:00It may be an effective punishment, but I have to a...It may be an effective punishment, but I have to agree with Carol about the public humiliation. The social pressures of middle school are tough enough. This is a little too much Hawthorne's Scarlet Letter for me.

I do believe in teaching young people to accept responsibility for their actions, but I doubt this is the way to do it. Of course it's possible there have been dozens of other incidents, the father was out of ideas, and this was his last ditch effort.

VR BarkowskiVR Barkowskihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04927993233682731113noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8925412579189247293.post-55565550797299153842013-05-28T16:05:04.655-07:002013-05-28T16:05:04.655-07:00I like it. If she got suspended and no one knew, then the punishment wouldn't really have helped her or the person she stole from. mshatchhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06308916014310536449noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8925412579189247293.post-59331393585382760002013-05-28T13:29:07.977-07:002013-05-28T13:29:07.977-07:00True.True.Liz A.https://www.blogger.com/profile/16531953467834426316noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8925412579189247293.post-62556647198526927362013-05-28T10:03:16.088-07:002013-05-28T10:03:16.088-07:00Clever, but I don't really like.
