Bari Weiss and CBS News

Today I'm getting on an airplane (or I'm on one or I'm arriving home--and not getting stuck overnight in Denver like I did last year), so you might not see me today. (I'll be around tomorrow, or Thursday if... Well, I'm planning on being around Wednesday.)

So, like last Tuesday, here's another Last Week Tonight with John Oliver. This one is about Bari Weiss being put in charge of CBS News. This happened months ago, but this episode is from when it was new. How well has this aged? Hmmm....

Have you noticed a difference in CBS News?

  1. Hope your travels were smooth. I used to watch CBS Evening News until Tony Dokoupil took it over - I fled after three episodes. I still watch CBS Mornings on the weekends. I abandoned 60 Minutes and I've watched it on and off since its beginning (I was a teenager in 1968). There are certain episodes of Sat/Sunday morning that make me wonder if Bari Weiss knew they were airing because there are still flashes of the old CBS at work. I have also taken note of the number of journalists leaving either through resignations or firings, including the co-hosts of CBS Saturday morning.

  2. I don't watch the news. In fact, I don't watch any broadcast television, or cable for that matter, I don't have it. Seems like everyone gets stuck in Denver. When one of my sons did (both have) they didn't even notify the passengers they could ask for vouchers for a hotel and food, and few seemed to know, as they never showed up at the hotel.

I appreciate your comments.

I respond to comments* via email, unless your profile email is not enabled. Then, I'll reply in the comment thread. Eventually. Probably.

*Exception: I do not respond to "what if?" comments, but I do read them all. Those questions are open to your interpretation, and I don't wish to limit your imagination by what I thought the question was supposed to be.
