It's election day. In an odd year. All that we have on the ballot is Proposition 50. You might have heard of it.
Since we in California have mail in ballots, I voted ages ago. As soon as the ballot arrived in the mail. As there was only one thing on the ballot, I didn't have a lot of research to do.
Pay attention to the redistricting going on. It started in Texas (I think). Now it's hit North Carolina among other places. This is cheating. We're only supposed to redistrict after a census. 2025 doesn't end in a zero. This was not a census year.
But, it's all cheating. So much of what they're doing is illegal. Or even if it's just against norms, they're still not caring. They're doing it all, and no one is stopping them.
Will this stop them? Probably not. But we must keep throwing sand in the wheels of oppression. It's not much, but it's something.

ReplyDeleteWe have only mail in voting. Or, I drop mine off in the many boxes around town. Only one thing, raising the lodging tax to pay for a ridiculous "event center," which is a conference center (we had one, it's vacant) minor league baseball stadium (I think it's for the S.F. Giant's). Right downtown. Taking away a city park. They want to draw people to shop and dine in the area. Too late. Downtown is nothing but bars, clubs, and weed shops. Do people go shopping or out to eat after a ball game? I really wonder. Don't they eat in the park? Locals will just go home.
Who could have imagined the state we find ourselves in these days?

ReplyDeletethe attention in New York State has been paid to the New York City mayoral race. Where I live in a different part of New York State, we only had a couple of local offices and a couple of propositions. . We have both in person and no excuse absentee voting by mail this year. I hope the mail in option continues. Women should be interested in some of these groups attempting to gain power they want to take the vote away from us
