In-Between Days

It's been another week of not much happening on the yarny project front. There was a new mask. . .

. . .that I modeled with my new haircut. (If you follow me on Instagram, you've already seen this.) And I started swatching. . .

. . .for a new project. This is swatch number four (or five). I think this is the stitch with the right hook size (it's crochet) for how I want the finished fabric to look and feel.

Now it's to measuring and calculating for the finished project. We'll see how far I get (or even if I get anything at all accomplished) this week.

And if that yarn looks familiar, it's because it's the same yarn I used to cover my earbud cord. . .

  1. The yarn around the ears might be a genius design - elastic gets ouchy after a few hours.

    1. It does. But I can't take credit. I found a tutorial on how to make a no sewing machine mask with blanket stitch and crochet. I realized that knitting the ear straps would work just the same as crochet, so I modified it a bit.

  2. Great hairdo. I'm going to be brave and get my hair cut soon too.

  5. Since I know nothing about knitting, what is swatching exactly? Just figuring out how you're going to make something?

  6. I like that you 'yarn bombed' your ear bud cord!;)

    1. Another idea I stole from someone else. I've been doing that for years now.

    1. It's an indie dyer: Dina's Home of Crafts. (It was a gift. I think my brother found it on Etsy. He bought the mystery box.) The color is 50 Shades of Love.

  9. So, whatever this swatch is for will match your earbuds. So, I will wait patiently for you to announce the project. It's almost time for me to start crocheting for the fall/winter season, and it's going to be one long season, so....

    1. One good thing about the quarantime is plenty of time to crochet. (It's going to be a phone cozy. Not a secret.)

  13. I like the new mask! I finally gave on making them and gave the fabric I bought to a friend who sews. I'll stick with making the extenders. But I do really like your mask.

    1. Thanks. It's not hard to do, but it does take a bit to get one's brain around it.
