Color Perception Quiz

Color perception is interesting. It's a touch different for everybody. One of my favorite tank tops is a lovely bright shade of red. At least, it looks red to me. Others have called it orange.

Just the other day, my dad and I debated the color of a car in front of us. He called it green. I said it was teal. We agreed to disagree.

Which is why this quiz feels a bit timely to me.

What Does the Way You Perceive Color Reveal about You?

I took this one twice--once on my phone and once on my laptop. Both times I came up as an optimist. I guess there are worse things to be.

Let me know. How did you do?

  1. I'm an optimist as well.
There was one with a bright, neon green. How anyone could think that was yellow is beyond me.

  2. *sigh* I'm an optimist too. Anyone noticing a trend?

  3. Like Alex and you ... are we all optimists? I ask?
    I like their description though:
"You tend to always look on the bright side of life, no matter what obstacle is in your way! You are a constant ray of light to all in your life!"

I have my suspicions ... ?!!!!! Cheers Hilary

  4. I'm an optimist as well :) I'm going to have my hubby take this and see what he comes up with.

    This was a fun one!

  5. I got the optimist as well.

Most men are colourblind (colourblindness is very rare in women, and there is only one type of colourblindness that affects us). Men are especially colourblind with green. They see the more faded greens as grey. We discovered Lil Bro#1 is a bit colourblind on his last birthday, when he thanked Stepmom for the lovely grey sweater that is definitely a green sweater...

    1. Ah yes, the red-green colorblindness. I actually knew someone who was. We had to tell him that he had washed his reds with his white pants (that had then turned pink).

  6. Optimist as well. I would like to redo this quiz in a different light. I know your back ground lights and color will make a different on how one see color.

    1. Yes. That's why I took it twice. Once on my phone in the dark. The second time on my laptop in full light.

    1. Maybe you're more optimistic than you think. Or maybe this is an online quiz and we shouldn't take its results too seriously.

  8. I'm an optimist as well. Seeing all these responses makes me wonder, are we all really good at seeing colours, or is everyone who takes the test an optimist? ;-)

    1. Good point. I don't know if I'd say "really good" at seeing colors. It was a perception thing, and I think perceptions could vary.

  9. I also got Optimist. When I was taking the quiz, I felt as though I was "acing" it (haha), because I know a lot of shades of color. I created a list for my writing and shared it on my blog once. I wonder if someone will get something other than Optimist.

  10. LOL everyone's an optimist. I wonder if there was another result or if they just want everyone to be happy sunshiney?

  11. We are all optimists! Does this mean we don't think outside the box?? I'm going to answer the opposite and see what happens....

  12. Ok I answered the questions, what I felt was incorrect and I got realist...hahahaaa I thought I would get pessimist but I am happy that I did not get optimist

    1. Thanks for doing that experiment. I was wondering. Perhaps we all see colors the same way. Or our monitors are configured so we see the colors the same way. Or, those that read and comment on my blog are all optimists. I could see how the third one could be possible.

  13. I am an optimist as well. I actually am an optimist. I knew I would have that outcome! :)

    1. Sometimes I'm unsure if I'm an optimist or not, and then I'll say something that'll get a comment of: "Wow, you're positive." So, perhaps we all are optimists...

  15. This was a really fun quiz! I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE color. Mine ended up as the Optimist, which is true. But what I found interesting is that my mom took the test too and her result showed her to be an Optimist as well, but that is definitely not her. She is the ultimate pessimist. So who knows. But it was fun. Thanks for sharing!

  16. I got Optimist. I have a tendency to see blue everywhere. Nice to know that has a positive connotation.

  17. Perhaps only optimists do the test? Or maybe we all feel optimistic cos we can see the colours at all?

    1. Perhaps. Or perhaps color perception has nothing to do with optimism. Who knows? We're such a culture of online quizzes that anyone could create one and have it "mean" anything.

  19. It told me I am an optimist - I wouldn't characterize myself as one, but maybe my computer screen was made by an optimist - who knows? Alana ramblinwitham.blogspot.com

  20. A long time ago, I was told that men don't see colors like "teal" and "fuschia." It's green or pink. They just don't develop the interest in learning all the intricacies of color that we do!

  21. Oh, heck, I don't know. I thought Southwest's airplanes were purple. My daughter thought I was nuts. She said they were blue.
    I think I'm getting old.

  22. The Optimist: "You are a constant ray of light to all in your life!"

    I snorted to read that.
