10 Pieces of Wisdom

Just a little something to think about. Have a great weekend.

  1. Those were good! I like the one about conflict. Takes two to argue. (And one sounds silly doing it by himself.)

    1. I've always liked Wayne Dyer. So sad he passed last year.

  5. I hate advice. It always makes me feel like I should be responsible for myself and that I have to work for happiness and crap like that. I prefer things like 'It's your mother's fault."

    1. These were not so much advice as ways to reframe thoughts. Not for everyone.

  9. Excellent words to consider but often easier to say than to do.

  11. That's funny--I just posted #3 on a Facebook page where someone was judging someone on a reality show. SO true!

    1. Oh yeah, that's a hard one to hear sometimes.

  12. Wise words indeed. Personally, #10 strikes a cord. I've danced with death too many times to not have a respect for making my time a bit more worthwhile.

  13. Interesting words. I agree with most of these quotes. I actually don't completely agree with the one about conflicts, just because I find that someone who avoids drama might still inevitably get stuck with someone who does.

    1. It depends on what you mean by "someone who avoids drama". If someone is truly peaceful, they tend to attract peaceful people to them. (Occasionally, a not-so-peaceful person might enter their orbit. But usually they just pass on through.)

But if you're talking about someone who is actively "avoiding" drama, it's just like anything else. The harder you try to avoid something, the more likely it is to find you and stick to you.

  14. Can see myself in all 10. Alex is correct.

  15. Thank you Liz, I needed that. There can't be conflict if you don't participate. My favourite.

  16. That was a very pleasant and peaceful video. Lots of great thoughts in there. Though, and I love the English language for this, there were a few times when a single word could be pronounced multiple ways and I attempted the wrong way first just to have the quote whizz by before I could finish reading. (i.e. Loving people live … where live was pronounced like alive. *sigh*) I guess it would have helped if I had been familiar with Wayne Dyer and these quotes. If words can confuse a native speaker, it makes you wonder how non-native speakers ever figure this language out! :)

    1. Of course, you could always pause the video or make it go back a couple seconds. But yeah, I'm familiar with all of those from various specials that they'd broadcast on PBS. I think they still show them during pledge weeks. If you liked these, make sure to check one of those out.

  17. I enjoy Wayne Dyer and he does make sense. We do all live in the same world. I have a couple of his books and reread certain parts when I need to.

*Exception: I do not respond to "what if?" comments, but I do read them all. Those questions are open to your interpretation, and I don't wish to limit your imagination by what I thought the question was supposed to be.
