Purse Progress, Part 2

There's a point in the project when it goes from "just started" to "almost finished". I suppose most people have more of a middle ground, but not me, and not with this project. Last week, I had "just started".

On my birthday, I made quite a lot of progress. (Note: I wrote last week's blog post before my birthday, but it posted after.)

And suddenly, I was "almost finished". By Friday, I had completed the main body piece.

Before the Olympics opening ceremony I sewed those two together. During the opening ceremony I wound in the ends.

And now I have something new to contemplate. I kind of like how this looks...

But I kind of want more of a slant on the purse's flap. Something to play with.

I'd like to say it'll be done by this time next week. It's possible. But I have been known to spend weeks on the finishing up of a project.

  2. Good "background noise" with the Olympics while you are working on your project. It is looking good.

  3. Why is finishing a knitting project so hard? I have a few that have been sitting around and all I need to do is weave in ends, but I keep putting it off.

    1. It seems like it shouldn't take that long, but you know it will. Although, with ends, I try to weave them in as I go so I'm not stuck with just that part left. (There was this afghan made of knitted triangles years ago that taught me that lesson...)

  4. Well, it's coming out nice, even if it still needs finishing. It's always those little details that cause trouble, isn't it? :)

  5. It's fun to play around with the parts where you put your own touches on the project. This is when it becomes yours.

    1. Since I'm not even working from a pattern, the whole thing becomes mine. I think this is why I started and continue to make my own purses.

    1. Oh, is that the one you blogged about? Maybe you should try to crochet a dishcloth that is in an odd shape. Might make it interesting.

    1. Thanks. Ideally, I'd have it done by this weekend. But I need to sit down and get the lining ready. That could take months...

  11. So, I'm just catching up here. You continue to amaze me with the way you can construct something from an idea. Your purse is very cool. Will you line it?
I am into shawls at the moment. I keep knitting them and storing them in my dresser. I suppose at some point they will become give-a-ways.

    1. The not finishing is more procrastination than anything. I have managed to make more progress than I expected.
